Review by Aiden Guinnip

The album Seven Songs Chamber Symphony by Zemlinsky, John Storgårds, Chamber Orchestra Of Lapland, Jenny Carlstedt is a stunning work of art that is sure to captivate any lover of classical music. The album features seven beautiful songs that are expertly performed by the Chamber Orchestra Of Lapland, under the direction of John Storgårds, and accompanied by the powerful vocals of Jenny Carlstedt.

The first song on the album, "Maiblumen blühten überall", sets the tone for the rest of the album with its hauntingly beautiful melody and Carlstedt's emotive vocals. The rest of the songs on the album are equally as impressive, showcasing the incredible talent of both the orchestra and Carlstedt.

The album is expertly produced, with each instrument and vocal part perfectly balanced to create a harmonious and immersive listening experience. The use of different instruments, including the violin, cello, and piano, adds depth and richness to the music, while Carlstedt's vocals are nothing short of breathtaking.

The rise of the Nazis forced him to return to Austria in 1933 where he focused on composing and only occasionally worked as a guest conductor. In 1938, he and his wife fled via Prague to New York City. In contrast to his friend Schoenberg, however, Zemlinsky failed to catch on in the United States. After a series of strokes that made it impossible for him to continue composing, he died of pneumonia in 1942. His performances of , and in Prague and Berlin in the 1920s and early 1930s as well as his friendship to rendered Zemlinksy during his life-time an important figure of European music in the 20th century. His fame and music, however, were only rediscovered in the 1970s, several decades after his death.
