Review by Kersten A. Riechers

Fall 1989 The Long Island Sound is a collaborative album featuring the legendary musicians Jerry Garcia Band, Bob Weir, and Rob Wasserman. The album, released in 2013, showcases the trio's incredible talent and chemistry as they perform a selection of classic tunes and original compositions.

The album opens with the energetic "The Winners," which sets the tone for the rest of the record. Garcia's guitar work is as impressive as ever, and Weir's vocals are as smooth as silk. Wasserman's bass playing provides a solid foundation for the trio's sound.

Other standout tracks on the album include "Lay My Lily Down," "Walking Blues," and "Bird Song." Each song showcases the trio's unique musical style and highlights their individual talents.

The production quality of the album is excellent, and the overall sound is crisp and clear. The album is a must-have for fans of the Jerry Garcia Band, Bob Weir, and Rob Wasserman, as well as anyone who appreciates great music.

I saw Bob and Rob at the old movie theater in Pasadena,Ca. It was so cool when they did Bob's tune Bombs Away right after Throwing Stones, all acoustic. Such magic. The small theaters guests were so blessed and thankful!!!

I was at the Nassau coliseum show. The Weir/Wasserman part of the show had a curtain split the coliseum in half.
It’s funny , even though my ticket said the Garcia Band was there that night , I don’t remember that part of the show but I do remember the Weir/Wasserman part very clearly. I remember enjoying it very much.

In '88 and through '89, you'd get a nice full set of Weir/Wasserman followed by two sets of the Garcia Band. I saw this lineup at the Wiltern, Irvine Meadows, and San Diego Open Air Theater. Always high quality. Great memories. Sad how we don't appreciate what we have 'til it's gone.
