This is a good album.
Coltrane's approach is Wagnerian.
Absolute perfection.
Maaad!!
Great album. Crazy true story: Tom Scott mentioned in an interview that this cabin was later used by the Manson Family.... https://youtu.be/cZDR_rzxnKs?t=2282

I've heard many "tributes" to one of my favorite musicians - John Coltrane. Some tributes were rip-offs, others sincere gestures of thanks. This one is probably my favorite. There is so much music I've missed so I'm sure others have done good jobs too. Thanks Tom Scott and group. Thanks for posting.
One does not think of Tom Scott as rural.
Wow... brilliant. 5/5
@michaelalang6676 what do you think about Casual's Me-O-Mi-O ??? I found this because of that ?
I named the song "Rural Still Life #26" as a ironic commentary on the titling of art works. Many artists would title their works "Still Life" and number them. So I decided this would be Still Life No 26. The irony is only that it is the only "still life" I ever composed! (ha, ha… go with it). However the real irony is… the cover photograph was the idea of a photographic "still life"… if you will… and the ranch that this photo was taken later became Charles Manson's ranch (!)… yes! BELIEVE IT!
Some detail: Tom Scott (tenor saxophone), Mike Lang (piano, clavinet), Chuck Domanico (bass), John Guerin (drums), Bob Thiele (producer) IMPULSE! A-9171 - rec 1968 Western Recorders, LA
Greg Fox: WOW! I have to thank you SO MUCH! I'm the composer (and the, uh, clavinetist and pianist on this very exciting album (for me!)
Thanks Tuberider, this is an awesome cut. I've got the album but not at work...where I needed it most. Cheers!
my favorite song on the album. Mine has a scratch right in the middle of the vinyl
The guys that would eventually be Toto took this name for their band prior to becoming Toto when they were in high school.Tom Scott is a total legend and one of my all time favorites-THE LA EXPRESS were phenomenal!!
I've been looking for this song for 40 years. Thanks for posting it. I remember going to the Hollywood Bowl for the Battle of the Bands night and listening to the Neoteric Trio (a very early Tom Scott group--1967-68) and been a fan of this "phenom" ever since.
ohhh yeaaaa tom scott ist der mann!! schönes casual sample!! gute arbeit tuberider...
