Review by Donna Vega

Count Ossie & The Wareikas' album Serve Him And is a masterpiece of Jamaican music. The album is a fusion of traditional African rhythms and contemporary reggae beats, creating a unique and captivating sound.

The album features Count Ossie's signature drumming style, which is characterized by a mix of African rhythms and jazz influences. The Wareikas' horn section adds a layer of depth to the music, creating a rich and vibrant sound that is both soulful and spiritual.

The album's standout tracks include "Bongo Man", "So Long", and "Sam's Intro". "Bongo Man" is a lively track that showcases Count Ossie's drumming skills, while "So Long" is a more mellow and reflective song that features beautiful harmonies and a haunting melody. "Sam's Intro" is a short and sweet instrumental piece that sets the tone for the rest of the album.

About Count Ossie & The Wareikas

Nyahbinghi drumming is not exclusive to the Nyahbinghi branch but is common to all Rastafarians. However, Count Ossie (died 1976) appear to be the first to put nyahbinghi drumming to records and so helped to establish and maintain Rastafari culture through music; incorporating influences from traditional Jamaican Kumina drumming with songs and rhythms learned from the recordings of Nigerian musician .
